Girls in Tech is a non-profit organization that is keyed into the development,
guidance and mentorship of young girls from the ages of 12 and above. It is a community that welcomes and
focuses on the grooming of young girls, it also gives young girls the opportunity to explore the technology
space. The organization's main aim is to ensure that girls and women in Nigeria are fully represented in the
STEM field and occupations, especially in information technology.
Giving girls and women ownership and educational opportunities in the technology space because ownership paves the way for learning opportunities for all girls and women. This goal is in line with sustainable development goal four which addresses quality education
Preparing girls and women for the future in technology to equalize the gender gap in the tech space thereby taking the SDG goal five into the tech space. Preparing girls and women to innovate in the knowledge economy addresses SDG goal 5 which targets gender equality.
Advocating for girls and women starts with leadership because making girls and women collaborators and leaders in technology empowers them to reject sustained abuses, subjugation, and forced early marriages.
At our core, we are dedicated to making technology more accessible to young girls and women in Nigeria. Through our efforts, we provide a wealth of resources, education, and opportunities to empower women in technology. Our goal is to create a supportive environment that allows women to learn, grow, and achieve their goals. We remain committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the tech industry, and will continue to work towards our mission.
The GirlsInTech Mentoring Program aims to
pair girls and women with mentors at all stages of their journey to provide guidance and motivation,
helping mentees to unlock their potential and achieve personal and professional goals. Our objective
is to assist mentees in navigating their fields successfully. During the enrollment process, mentees
will be matched with mentors based on factors such as location, industry, and
skills.
